Fate of North Korean satellite in doubt

The status of North Korea’s recently launched Kwangmyongson 3 FM2 satellite appears to be unclear as contradicting reports have emerged.

MILSATCOM Systems Directorate announces EPS CAPS contract

U.S. Air Force Space Command’s Space and Missile Systems Center has awarded a contract to Northrop Grumman Systems Corporation – Information Systems in Redondo Beach, California, for the MILSATCOM Systems Directorate’s design and development of the Enhanced Polar System’s Control and Planning Segment.

Raytheon wins DARPA contract to design new military imaging satellites

Raytheon Company was awarded a US$1.5 million U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) contract for phase one of the agency’s Space Enabled Effects for Military Engagements (SeeMe) programme.

Sagem and Thales strengthen joint subsidiary Sofradir’s infrared technopole

Sagem (Safran group), Thales and Sofradir have signed an agreement for Sofradir to acquire Sagem and Thales’ infrared (IR) detector technology development and manufacturing facilities. Sagem and Thales bring to Sofradir IR technologies originally developed for their internal purposes.

XTAR wins US$8 million in new business in airborne ISR market

XTAR LLC, the first U.S. commercial provider of satellite services in the X-band, announced that it has gained a significant segment of the growing airborne intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (AISR) market over the last 12 months. These contracts represent more than 100 MHz of bandwidth and are valued at more than US$8 million.
