Sofradir secures first contract win from Indian space agency

Sofradir, a developer and manufacturer of infrared detectors for military, space and industrial applications, announces that ISRO/SAC, the Indian Space Research Organisation’s Space Applications Center in Ahmedabad has awarded Sofradir a 2.5 year infrared detector contract.

OTV-1 back in space

Rocket: Atlas 501; Payload: X-37B Orbital Test Vehicle 1 (OTV 1); Date: 11 December 2012; Launch site: Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. The launch appears to have been successful, although separation of the secretive mini-shuttle from the upper stage has (as expected) not been immediately announced.

USAF Space Development and Test Directorate awards launch service contract

The Space and Missile Systems Center’s Space Development and Test Directorate at Kirtland AFB, New Mexico, on 30 November awarded launch service contracts to Space Exploration Technologies, Orbital Sciences Corporation and Lockheed Martin Space Systems Corporation.

Briz-M hitch may shave off four years off Yamal-402 life time

Specialists from Thales Alenia Space have carried out a second out of four scheduled manoeuvres to bring the Yamal-402 satellite into its designated orbit, Russia’s Gazprom Space Systems (GSS) company said.

Amazonas 3 nearing end of test phase

The Amazonas 3 telecommunications satellite, with a launch date forecast for early next year from Kourou (French Guiana), is in the final phase of its construction process at Space Systems/Loral in Palo Alto, California, Hispasat announced.

Globalstar takes delivery of final batch of second generation satellites

Globalstar, Inc. announced that all six satellites scheduled for launch in early February are now at the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.

United Launch Alliance clears Atlas V for X-37B launch

United Launch Alliance (ULA) cleared the next launch of the X-37B Orbital Test Vehicle (OTV) for 11 December after a thorough flight clearance process was executed following a flight data anomaly that occurred on the Global Positioning System (GPS) IIF-3 launch on 4 October.

North Korea extends rocket launch window

Citing technical problems in the first-stage control engine module of the rocket, North Korea said it will extend the 13-day rocket launch window by one week until 29 December.
