Delta IV Heavy launches U.S. reconnaissance satellite

Rocket: Delta IV Heavy; Payload: NROL-65 (USA-245); Date: 28 August 2013, 1603 UTC; Launch site: Vandenberg Air Force Base, USA. The rocket lifted off eleven minutes later than scheduled. The classified payload was successfully deployed into its target orbit.

Faulty software suspected in Epsilon-1 launch delay

The possible reason why Japan cancelled the launch of Epsilon, a new kind of solid-fuel rocket 19 seconds before the scheduled lift-off Tuesday afternoon was programming error and lax preliminary checks, Japanese media reported.

e2v signs contract with the Russian Academy of Sciences

Keith Attwood, CEO of e2v and Vladimir Nevolin, deputy director of the Lebedev Physical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (LPI) signed a contract for the first phase of a multi-million pound project. The contract is for the supply of a high performance imaging sub-system to equip the ultraviolet spectrographs on board the World Space Observatory – Ultraviolet (WSO-UV).

EUMETSAT and NOAA sign long-term agreement

Building on a 30-year relationship, EUMETSAT and the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) signed a long-term co-operative agreement, ensuring continued space-based operational monitoring of weather, ocean and climate.
