Redwire announces supplier agreement with Terran Orbital

Redwire Corporation announced a three-year supplier agreement with Terran Orbital, through which Redwire will deliver a range of advanced components and solutions that will be used in Terran Orbital’s line of satellite manufacturing and service offerings.

Russia launches trials of plasma thrusters for nanosatellite stationkeeping

Russia has launched the trials of a plasma thruster for retaining the attitude of small space vehicles in orbit, the press office of Sitronics Group was quoted as saying.

NASA returns Hubble to full science operations

NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope (HST) team recovered the Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph on Monday, 6 December, and is now operating with all four active instruments collecting science. The team has still not detected any further synchronisation message issues since monitoring began 1 November.

NASA zeroing in on path forward for Lucy Solar Array

NASA said it plans to conduct additional ground tests on an engineering model of the Lucy solar array motor and lanyard prior to potentially attempting full deployment of one of the probe’s solar arrays.

NASA’s laser communications tech, science experiment safely in space

NASA’s Laser Communications Relay Demonstration (LCRD) and a NASA-U.S. Naval Research Laboratory space weather payload to study the Sun’s radiation lifted off on 7 December aboard the Space Test Program Satellite-6 on a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida as part of the U.S. Space Force’s Space Test Program 3 (STP-3) mission.

RAISE-2 completes critical operations phase

The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) received telemetry data from the RApid Innovative payload demonstration SatellitE-2 (RAISE-2) launched abroad the fifth Epsilon Launch Vehicle (Epsilon-5) on 9 November from Uchinoura Space Center as part of JAXA’s Innovative Satellite Technology Demonstration-2.

Los Alamos National Lab orders 12U cubesat from NanoAvionics

Smallsat mission integrator NanoAvionics US has received a mission contract by Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). The 12U (1U equals 10 × 10 × 10 cm³) spacecraft, about the size of a microwave oven, will host the Mini Astrophysical MeV Background Observatory (MAMBO) mission.

ESA selects Airbus for exoplanet mission ARIEL

The European Space Agency (ESA) has signed a contract with Airbus to build the Atmospheric Remote-sensing Infrared Exoplanet Large-survey (ARIEL) mission. ARIEL is the fourth medium-class mission in ESA’s Cosmic Vision programme.
