RSCC to get Sberbank loan for Ekspress satellites

Russian Space Communications Company (RSCC) has signed loan agreements with Russia’s Sberbank worth a total of RUB6.2 billion (EUR169 million, US$260 million) for funding its costs related with the production and launch of satellites, the company said.

Sierra Nevada/MicroSat to build Orbcomm’s next-gen satellites

Orbcomm Inc. has signed a next generation satellite constellation contract with Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) to build 18 new Orbcomm Generation 2 (OG2) satellites with an option to purchase up to 30 additional OG2 satellites to augment and upgrade Orbcomm’s existing satellite constellation.

Ball Aerospace wins NASA Earth sensing contracts

Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp. has been awarded a NASA contract that supports the agency’s Science Mission Directorate 2007 Instrument Incubator Program (IIP) in developing Earth science instrument subsystem technologies. Ball will also participate in a contract as co-investigators on a study led by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL).

Vietnam plans second satellite

Vietnam has entered negotiations for an orbital slot orbit for its second satellite, Vinasat-2, which is slated to launch in the next seven to eight years, said Deputy Minister of Information and Telecommunications Tran Duc Lai.
