AT&T Video Service – Does it Beat Cable?

One of the new kids on the block when it comes to cable TV offerings is AT&T U-verse service. This new product is delivered to the customer via fiber-to-the-node technology. Once the signal reaches the home, coaxial cable or CAT 5 wiring is used to deliver the programming to your television set. So how does U-verse stack up with cable TV?

STS-127 launch delayed until mid-July

NASA postponed the launch of space shuttle Endeavour’s STS-127 mission today because of a leak associated with the gaseous hydrogen venting system outside the shuttle’s external fuel tank.

Atlas V rolled out for LRO/LCROSS launch

NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, or LRO, and the Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Satellite, or LCROSS, rolled aboard their Atlas V rocket to the launch pad at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida in preparation for launch on 18 June.

Prisma launch in November

The two Prisma satellites are undergoing their final system tests in Swedish Space Corporation’s clean room in Solna, Sweden. Since the satellites returned from France, where they underwent environmental tests, they have been completed with final software versions.

EADS Astrium not happy with Falcon 9 delay — report

EADS Astrium is currently in discussions with its customer, Avanti Communications, regarding the possible move of Avanti’s Hylas from Falcon 9 to a different launcher, Flight International reported.

ESA signs High Thrust Engine Demonstrator contract

ESA signed a EUR20 million contract rider with the Joint Propulsion Team consortium composed of Avio SpA (I), Astrium GmbH (D) and Snecma (Groupe SAFRAN) (F), for the development of the future liquid engine demonstrator for the European Next Generation Launcher first stage, the High Thrust Engine Demonstrator.

TAS receives ATP from ESA for IXV development

The European Space Agency (ESA) and Thales Alenia Space have set the agreement for the authorisation to proceed with the development of the atmospheric reentry demonstrator IXV (Intermediate eXperimental Vehicle).
