Iran plans to launch a small communications satellite by late 2011 with no outside help, Telecommunications Minister Reza Taqipour was quoted as saying.

Three GLONASS-M satellites have been sent back to manufacturer Reshetnev Information Satellite Systems, Interfax reported citing an unnamed source at the Baikonur Cosmodrome.

On 19 November 2009, the company e-GEOS, which is jointly owned by Telespazio and the Italian Space Agency ASI, announced that it signed a contract with ESA to supply optical and radar satellite data for the European Global Monitoring for Environment and Security (GMES) programme.
