Two new Russian contracts for MDA

MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. said it has signed two contracts with a combined worth of more than US$60 million with the Russian Radio Research and Development Institute (NIIR).

Taiwan to develop indigenous imaging sensor for FormoSat 5

Taiwan’s National Space Organisation (NSPO) announced the formation of a group specifically for researching, developing and manufacturing an optical remote sensing instrument to fly on FormoSat 5, the country’s next Earth-observation satellite to be launched in 2013.

Tranquility, Cupola ready for launch to complete ISS assembly

Political controversy once again hits Eutelsat

Once more, Eutelsat finds itself at the centre of a controversy in which a broadcaster accuses the satellite operator of censorship. In this case, state-funded Georgian Public Broadcaster GPB claims Eutelsat succumbed to Russian pressure by taking GPB’s Russian-language channel off the W7 satellite. Eutelsat firmly denied all allegations.
