Delay of the day: GOES-P

Launch of the GOES P weather satellite aboard a Delta IV rocket has been postponed to 4/5 March, in order to replace a component in the fuel-delivery system from the pad to the launcher.

Australian university leads scramjet consortium

The University of Queensland, Australia, will lead a A$14 million international consortium to help develop scramjet-based access-to-space systems, flying an autonomous scramjet vehicle at eight times the speed of sound – Mach 8, or 8,600 km/h.

Two GLONASS satellites removed from constellation

Mars Express heading for closest flyby of Phobos

ESA’s Mars Express will skim the surface of Mars’ largest moon Phobos on 3 March. Passing by at an altitude of 67 km, precise radio tracking will allow researchers to peer inside the moon.
