As technology advances, so do our expectations of it; this alone seems to create some of the speed at which technology advances. In some cases, however, it is possible to create a temporary halt to progress as everyone else catches up. This is the issue between digital vs. analog video signals.

Euroconsult forecast that an estimated 1,220 satellites will be built for launch over the next decade. The average of 122 satellites to be launched per year is up significantly from the annual average of 77 satellites launched in the previous decade.
