NPP climate satellite passes pre-environmental review

The NASA National Polar-orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite System (NPOESS) Preparatory Project (NPP) climate/weather satellite has successfully completed its Pre-Environmental Review (PER) at Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp’s production and test facility in Boulder, Colorado, and will begin flight environmental testing in the upcoming weeks.

NASA awards three JPSS contracts

NASA on behalf of the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has awarded a sole source contract for the Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS-1) spacecraft to Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp. This is a fixed price contract of US$248 million with a performance period through 1 February 2015.
