Russia launches space-based radio telescope

Rocket: Zenit-3M/Fregat-SB; Payload: Spektr-R; Date: 18 July 2011, 0231 UTC; Launch site: Baikonur, Kazakhstan. The scientific spacecraft successfully separated from the Fregat-SB upper stage at 0606 UTC. Spektr-R was injected into orbit with altitude of about 340,000 km.

NASA begins commercial partnership with ULA

Dawn enters orbit around asteroid Vesta

NASA’s Dawn spacecraft on 16 July (UTC) became the first probe ever to enter orbit around an object in the main asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. Dawn will study the asteroid, named Vesta, for a year before departing for a second destination, a dwarf planet named Ceres, in July 2012.

Thales Alenia Space Italia awarded lead mandate for MUSIS-CIL

Thales Alenia Space Italia announced the signature of a contract with OCCAR-EA (Organization for Joint Armament Co-operation) for the study phase for the definition and feasibility of the Multinational Space-based Imaging System (MUSIS) Federated Activities programme.

When Satellite Internet Is The Best Connection

In Western society, satellite TV and radio is already well known, however it is possible that many people still are unaware that this service is available in many places. When the number or current internet users are reviewed, only a one percent of these users are taking advantage of satellite internet service. It might be a small percentage of the market, but it is very important. The numbers will also show that the majority of users reside in rural locations.
