Proton grounded as Ekspress AM4 rescue attempts continue

Roskosmos today issued a statement regarding Ekspress AM4 which indicates that the case may be more complicated than possibly expected. In related news, Russia has put Proton M/Briz M launches on hold.

No word on Ekpress AM4; Proton launch delays loom

There’s still no official word on the fate of Russia’s Ekspress AM4 satellite, which was stranded in a bad orbit after an apparent malfunction of the Proton M launcher’s Briz M upper stage.

Two more Globalstar launches in 2011

Preparations for two additional Soyuz launches are now underway at Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan for missions to be performed by Arianespace’s Starsem affiliate before year-end in building up Globalstar’s second-generation satellite constellation.

NRL set to launch experimental TacSat-4 spacecraft

The U.S. Naval Research Laboratory’s Tactical Satellite IV (TacSat-4) is scheduled to launch from the Alaska Aerospace Corporation’s Kodiak Launch Complex on 27 September 2011 aboard an Orbital Sciences Corporation Minotaur-IV+ launch vehicle.
