Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX) said it has successfully test fired SuperDraco, a new engine that the company said will play a critical role in its human spaceflight plans.

The first Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) satellite, built by Lockheed Martin, was encapsulated into its payload fairing on 29 January in preparation for a 16 February lift-off aboard an Atlas V launch vehicle from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.

The special EUMETSAT Council meeting on 30-31 January recorded progress in the approval process for the EUMETSAT Polar System Second Generation (EPS-SG) Preparatory Programme, with the sum of contributions increasing from nearly 55% to 83% and 18 of the 27 EUMETSAT Member States having firmly committed themselves to the programme.
