SES relocates AMC-3 to 67 degrees West

SES S.A. announced that the AMC-3 satellite is being relocated from its former location of 87 degrees West to 67 degrees West to optimise coverage of Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.

Space debris removal – the German approach

Researchers at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) are developing an optical observation system with a powerful laser, the pulses from which can detect particles only a few centimetres in diameter and allow determination of their orbits. The concept was tested for the first time in January 2012, in collaboration with the Laser Station in the Austrian city of Graz.

Vega success paves way for Sentinel launches

Yesterday’s successful maiden flight of ESA’s new Vega rocket from Europe’s Spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana, opens a new set of launch services – including two of the Sentinel satellites for GMES.

NASA announces third round of CubeSat space mission candidates

Gilat selected by O3b for supply of Ka-band ground infrastructure

Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd. announced that it has signed an agreement with O3b Networks Limited, the developer of a new high-speed, low-latency satellite-based service for telecommunication operators and enterprises in emerging markets, for the development and supply of Ka-band infrastructure for O3b’s VSAT services.
