New crew launched to the ISS

Rocket: Soyuz 2.1a; Payload: Soyuz MS 20; Date: 8 December 2021, 0738 UTC; Launch site: Baikonur, Kazakhstan. Nine minutes into the flight the crewed spacecraft normally separated from the third stage and entered it target near-earth orbit.

RocketLab to launch three more StriX satellites for Synspective

GHGSat confirms launch of its next three satellites with SpaceX

GHGSat said it is building on its momentum to deploy a constellation of satellites in collaboration with ABB. GHGSat’s next three satellites, GHGSat-C3, C4 and C5, will be launched into orbit in summer 2022 on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket as part of the Transporter-5 mission.

Atlas V deploys STP-3 into geosynchronous orbit in 7-hours mission

Rocket: Atlas V 551/Centaur; Payload: STP-3 (STPSat 6, several smallsats); Date: 7 December 2021, 1022 UTC; Launch site: Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, USA. TP-3 marked ULA’s longest duration mission at seven hours and 10 minutes until spacecraft separation.

China’s Ceres-1 Y2 commercial rocket launches 5 satellites

Rocket Ceres-1 Y2; Payload: five smallsats; Date: 7 December 2021, 0412 UTC; Launch site: Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, China. The satellites were deployed into approx. 480 km x 500 km x 97.40 degrees orbits.

Delay of the day: Atlas V/STP-3 (again)

The launch of a United Launch Alliance Atlas V 551 rocket carrying the Space Test Program-3 (STP-3) mission for the U.S. Space Force’s Space Systems Command (SSC) has been scrubbed.

Webb fuelled for launch

The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) was fuelled inside the payload preparation facility at Europe’s Spaceport in French Guiana ahead of its launch on Ariane 5.

Astra to begin operating out of second U.S. spaceport

Astra Space, Inc. announced that it plans to deploy its first satellite in orbit for NASA in January 2022. The launch from Cape Canaveral will be conducted out of Space Launch Complex 46 (SLC-46) and will be Astra’s first launch out of Cape Canaveral.
