Rocket: Chang Zheng 2C; Payload: Shi Jian 11-02 (SJ-11-02); Date: 29 July, 0742 UTC; Launch site: Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, China. The launch marked the 142nd flight for the Chang Zheng rocket family.

SBIRS GEO 2 completes Baseline Integrated System Test

The U.S. Air Force’s second Space Based Infrared Systems geosynchronous satellite successfully completed a Baseline Integrated System Test recently at Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company in Sunnyvale, California.

Eutelsat 3B, not W3B

The new satellite Eutelsat ordered from Astrium was incorrectly referred to as W3B in the headline of an article yesterday. The name is actually Eutelsat 3B, as used throughout the article itself. The headline has been updated accordingly.

Eutelsat orders 3B from Astrium

Eutelsat Communications announced that it is expanding its commercial response to high-growth video, data, telecom and broadband markets with the opening of business at the 3 degrees East orbital position. To support further long-term expansion, Eutelsat has selected Astrium to build a tri-band satellite, which will increase and diversify its resources for markets in Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia and South America.
