China launches relay satellite in preparation of Shenzhou VII mission

Rocket: Chang Zheng 3C; Payload: Tianlian I; Date: 25 April 2008, 2216 UTC; Site: Xichang Satellite Launch Center, China. The successful (and previously unannounced) mission was the first flight of a Chang Zheng 3C and the launch of China’s first data relay satellite.

Second Galileo test satellite finally in orbit

Rocket: Soyuz/Fregat; Payload: GIOVE-B; Date: 26 April 2008, 2216 UTC; Site: Baikonur, Kazakhstan. The Soyuz flew a multi-phase mission that led to GIOVE-B’s separation 3 hours, 45 minutes later.
