Space Systems/Loral (SS/L) announced that it shipped a new communications satellite built for Asia Satellite Telecommunications Company Limited (AsiaSat) to the Baikonur Space Center in Kazakhstan.

Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd (SSTL) is preparing two satellites for launch on 25 July. The Earth observation missions, UK-DMC2 and Deimos-1, will be launched onboard a Dnepr rocket from the Baikonur Cosmodrome that Saturday at 1846 UTC.

The Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite, GOES-O, has reached geostationary orbit. The satellite has now been renamed and its solar array has been deployed.

NASA has awarded a contract to the University of Colorado at Boulder’s Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics for the development of the Total and Spectral Solar Irradiance Sensor, or TSIS.
