Cable TV has been a choice for many years and long ago the only choice if you wanted more than the standard few channels on VHF. Long ago the cost of installation was high and the monthly fees would continue to steadily rise. With the introduction of satellite television; however, the competition has caused cable to become comparable to satellite. Today cable and satellite TV have few differences, but there are some differences to consider.

If you are currently a cable TV customer, maybe you have been tempted to switch over to a satellite TV provider like DirecTV. Maybe you have hesitated though, thinking that satellite service is unreliable, or that the packages available don’t stack up with your cable bundle. Beginning in the 1930s, televisions began making their way into American homes and began to have much greater influence in the home than anyone could have ever anticipated. The television is now a way for political leaders, journalists, performers, and advertisers to communicate with billions of Americans on a daily basis, and has become a staple in the home. As the pace of modern advancement quickened, TVs were not left behind in the technological revolution.

Rocket: Falcon 1; Payload: RazakSAT; Date: 14 July, 0335 UTC; Site: Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands. The satellite was separated from the rocket about 48 minutes after lift-off.

ILS International Launch Services (ILS) and SES announced the execution of an agreement for the launch of QuetzSat-1 on an ILS Proton in 2011. QuetzSat-1 is under construction by Space Systems/Loral on behalf of SES Satellite Leasing Limited in the Isle of Man.

TerreStar Networks (Canada) announced that the TerreStar-1 satellite has successfully been placed into its assigned orbital position in the geosynchronous arc. It has also successfully deployed its 18-metre 2 GHz S-Band reflector, the largest commercial satellite antenna ever deployed.

Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp. has completed environmental testing for NASA’s Widefield Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) and has begun post-environmental performance testing. WISE is working to a date of 1 November 2009 for launch from Vandenberg Air Force Base.
