For the first time the United States is starting to take a healthy interest in the World Cup. We are late to the game in the sense that the rest of the world has loved soccer since the game was invented. It’s hard to say why the sport never seemed to take off in popularity here the way that it has in the rest of the world. Perhaps it is because there are so many other sports that the United States is also interested in. Our interest in sports is too spread around and perhaps fans have felt they didn’t have enough room for another.
