Turning a book into a movie is one of the most fraught projects that Hollywood production houses take on. If something is a runaway bestseller, it is almost guaranteed that the movie based on it will be, at the very least, a financial success. This fact tends to be true even when the film is ultimately deemed to be complete garbage by critics and fans alike, such as The Da Vinci Code movie that featured Tom Hanks and Audrey Tautou (from Amelie) yet still managed to disappoint audiences across the country.
