Update: First commercial ULA Atlas V launches ICO G1

ICO G1, launched yesterday aboard an Atlas V in 421 configuration, successfully deployed its solar arrays several hours after separation and was to begin firing its thrusters today in order to manoeuvre into geosynchronous orbit.

SUNY continues to use AMC-5 capacity

The State University of New York (SUNY) has renewed its multi-year contract using SES Americom’s AMC-5 satellite for its SUNYSAT network, which is used to deliver the University’s New York Network and distance learning applications to its campuses throughout New York State, as well as state and government agencies and the media in the U.S.

Yahsat to provide secure satellite services for UAE Armed Forces

Al Yah Satellite Communications Company PrJsc, the UAE’s first nationally-owned satellite operator, has signed an agreement with the UAE Armed Forces to provide secure satellite communications in the UAE.

Russian ISS segment behind schedule and out of money

Thales Alenia Space wins contract for Sentinel-3

The European Space Agency and Thales Alenia Space today signed a EUR305 million (US$483 million) contract to provide the first Sentinel-3 Earth observation satellite, devoted to oceanography and land-vegetation monitoring, as part of the European GMES programme. As prime contractor, Thales Alenia Space is responsible for the satellite’s design, development and integration.

First commercial ULA Atlas V launches ICO G1, sets payload record

April 15th, 2008 by

Rocket: Atlas V/Centaur; Payload: ICO G1; Date: 14 April 2008, 2012 UTC; Site: Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, USA. The satellite separated from the Centaur upper stage 30 minutes, 49 seconds after lift-off as planned.
