Globalstar gets more spectrum for ATC

Globalstar, Inc. said that the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has issued a Report & Order expanding Globalstar’s authority to offer Ancillary Terrestrial Component services (ATC) in the United States in conjunction with its mobile satellite services.

NASA extends Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne’s CECE contract

Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne has been awarded a contract extension by NASA to continue development of the Common Extensible Cryogenic Engine (CECE). The CECE is advancing technology readiness to support future lunar lander development.

Aerojet to develop liquid methane engine

NASA spacecraft fine tunes course for Mars landing

NASA engineers have adjusted the flight path of the Phoenix Mars Lander, setting the spacecraft on course for its landing on the Red Planet on 25 May.

No trip to the moon: Americom declares AMC-14 total loss

SES Americom has declared to insurers that its recently launched AMC 14 satellite is now considered a total loss, owing to a lack of viable options to reposition the satellite to its proper geostationary orbit. A rescue mission using a lunar flyby was reportedly prevented by Boeing, which holds a controversial U.S. Patent describing such manoeuvres.

Orange to fill TV gaps in France using Eutelsat capacity

Orange (the key brand of France Telecom) has confirmed its selection of two Eutelsat video neighbourhoods, Hotbird and Atlantic Bird 3, to broadcast by satellite the TV component of its triple play offer (telephone, Internet, TV) in cases where it is not accessible via ADSL.
