Beginning in the 1930s, televisions began making their way into American homes and began to have much greater influence in the home than anyone could have ever anticipated. The television is now a way for political leaders, journalists, performers, and advertisers to communicate with billions of Americans on a daily basis, and has become a staple in the home. As the pace of modern advancement quickened, TVs were not left behind in the technological revolution.

NASA has decided to skip the 14 July launch opportunity for space shuttle Endeavour.

ILS International Launch Services (ILS) and SES announced the execution of an agreement for the launch of QuetzSat-1 on an ILS Proton in 2011. QuetzSat-1 is under construction by Space Systems/Loral on behalf of SES Satellite Leasing Limited in the Isle of Man.

TerreStar Networks (Canada) announced that the TerreStar-1 satellite has successfully been placed into its assigned orbital position in the geosynchronous arc. It has also successfully deployed its 18-metre 2 GHz S-Band reflector, the largest commercial satellite antenna ever deployed.

Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp. has completed environmental testing for NASA’s Widefield Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) and has begun post-environmental performance testing. WISE is working to a date of 1 November 2009 for launch from Vandenberg Air Force Base.

Northrop Grumman Corporation has been awarded the first phase of a US$30 million firm-fixed price U.S. Air Force contract to develop a global space surveillance ground radar system.

Harris Corporation has submitted its proposal to provide advanced communications and information assurance solutions for the Global Positioning System (GPS) Next-Generation Advanced Control Segment (OCX) as a member of the Northrop Grumman team. The proposal begins the downselect phase of the programme.
