As globalization increased and international interactions become more commonplace, being able to speak more than one language is becoming increasingly important. Yet, the United States is so geographically isolated from much of the world, that second language acquisition is not as common for Americans as it is for so many people in other parts of the world. In recent years, many school districts across the country have begun requiring students to take a foreign language class, which is great since research has proven that learning another language is much easier for young people than it is for older adults. Still though, most students will not be able to become fluent from the language classes they have in school, and linguists have long known that the best way to learn a language is to immerse yourself in it.
