Euroconsult Satellite Connectivity and Video Markets Survey

Euroconsult released its flagship research, which predicts the satellite communications market will grow to US$19.4 billion by 2028. Following a decline that began in 2014, the research forecasts a return to revenue growth beginning in 2020, driven by demand for broadband applications, including rural connectivity, in-flight communications, as well as cellular backhaul.

Two more Chinese navsats launched

Rocket: Chang Zheng 3B/YZ1; Payload: Beidou-3M19 (Beidou-47), Beidou-3M20 (Beidou-48); Date: 22 September 2019, 2110 UTC; Launch site: Xichang Satellite Launch Center, China. The two navigation satellites were deployed into an approx. 21,530 km x 22,191 x 55.02 degrees orbit at the end of a four-hour mission.

Ultimate Soyuz FG moved to launch pad

The Soyuz-FG launch vehicle with the Soyuz MS-15 crew transport spacecraft was rolled out of the Integration and Checkout Facility and erected on the launch pad No. 1 (Gagarin’s launch pad) of the Baikonur launch site.

NASA awards Orion production contract to LockMart

NASA has awarded the Orion Production and Operations Contract (OPOC) to Lockheed Martin of Littleton, Colorado. OPOC is an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract that includes a commitment to order a minimum of six and a maximum of 12 Orion spacecraft, with an ordering period through 30 September 2030.

Thaicom, RSCC enter into partnership agreement

Thaicom Public company Limited announced the signature of an Agreement of Intention with Russian Satellite Communications company (RSCC) to collaborate on the joint development of a service offering for maritime satellite broadband connectivity.

TAS inaugurates automated production plant for photovoltaic assemblies

Thales Alenia Space recently inaugurated a new plant in Hasselt, Belgium, dedicated to the automated production of photovoltaic assemblies (PVA), which generate electrical power on satellite solar arrays.

First Soyuz/OneWeb launch planned for 19 December

The first launch of OneWeb satellites from the Baikonur Cosmodrome is tentatively scheduled for 19 December, a spokesperson for Russian State Space Corporation Roskosmos was quoted as saying.
