AJ26 engine shuts down prematurely during test

An Aerojet AJ26 flight engine for Orbital Sciences Corporations’ Taurus II space launch vehicle experienced a premature shutdown during a test firing on 9 June.

SBIRS-GEO 1 continues checkout in geosynchronous orbit

The U.S. Air Force’s Space Based Infrared Systems GEO-1 satellite, launched in May aboard an Atlas V, successfully completed all orbit-raising manoeuvres to reach geosynchronous orbit.

SMOS gains clearer view as illegal transmitters shut down

A major international effort to shut down radio signals that have, at times, been blinding the instrument on ESA’s SMOS water satellite is producing a marked improvement in the quality of the mission’s data, the agency said.
