Euroconsult: NGSO constellations continue to gain momentum

In its flagship report on the Satellite Connectivity and Video Market, Euroconsult projects the market value to double between 2020 to 2030. Driven primarily by non-geostationary orbit (NGSO) satellite constellations, by 2030, the satellite connectivity and video market is projected to exceed US$20 billion. NGSO capacity accounts for more than 75% of the projected market growth in the next decade.

Stratobus stratospheric airship passes a new development milestone

Thales Alenia Space has carried out a demonstration flight designed to validate the emergency recovery system for the Stratobus stratospheric airship, as part of the European Commission’s HEMERA 2020 project.

Aliena and OrbAstro to demo propulsion system on 12U satellite

Aliena PTE Ltd (Aliena), a satellite propulsion provider, has signed a contract with Orbital Astronautics Ltd (OrbAstro), a satellite and in-orbit service provider, to fly its AA Multi-modal all-electric AOCS propulsion system onboard an OrbAstro ORB-12 (12U-class satellite) scheduled for launch in September 2022.

Astranis moves launch of first commercial satellite to Falcon Heavy

Astranis announced that its first commercial communications satellite, set to provide service for Alaska from geostationary orbit, will now launch as a secondary payload on a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket on a direct-inject mission set for Spring 2022.

Lunasonde’s Gossamer Satellite Constellation to be launched aboard Falcon 9

Lunasonde, a startup that focuses on subsurface imaging from space, and Exolaunch announced launch agreements to fly a portion of the Gossamer satellite constellation to a Sun-synchronous orbit aboard SpaceX’s Falcon 9 Transporter missions in 2022.

Rocket Lab to launch ADRAS-J for Astroscale

Rocket Lab USA, Inc. announced it has signed a dedicated launch contract with Astroscale Japan Inc. Scheduled for lift-off from Rocket Lab Launch Complex 1 in 2023, the Electron rocket will launch the Active Debris Removal by Astroscale-Japan (ADRAS-J) satellite, which has been selected by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) for Phase I of its Commercial Removal of Debris Demonstration Project (CRD2).
