Rocket Lab to acquire space hardware company Planetary Systems

Rocket Lab USA has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Planetary Systems Corporation (PSC), a Maryland-based spacecraft separation systems company, for US$42 million in cash and 1,720,841 shares of the company’s common stock, plus the potential for an additional 956,023 shares of common stock for a performance earnout based on PSC’s CY 2022 and 2023 financial results. The acquisition is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2021.

Dawn Aerospace, Orbit Fab to enable on-orbit refuelling of green propellants

Orbit Fab, the Gas Stations in Space company, and Dawn Aerospace, a space-transportation company, announced a collaboration to make on-orbit refuelling available to satellites utilising nitrous oxide and propylene (N2O and C3H6).

Astroscale launches docking plate to capture defunct satellites

Astroscale Holdings Inc. (“Astroscale”) revealed a universal docking device the company hopes will become standard fitment on all future low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites. Astroscale calls on operators to prepare their spacecraft with a Docking Plate to prepare for future removal and to help safeguard the space environment.

Russia confirms ASAT test, claims it poses no danger

Russia’s defence ministry has admitted to destroying one of its satellites during a missile test, confirming accusations levied earlier by the United States. “The Russian defence ministry successfully conducted a test, as a result of which the Russian spacecraft Tselina-D (aka Kosmos 1408) was destroyed,” the military said in a statement.

Exolaunch signs new multi-launch agreement with SpaceX

Exolaunch has signed a new multi-launch agreement with SpaceX. The agreement includes more launches, more slots and more capacity for Exolaunch to integrate customer satellites onboard SpaceX dedicated rideshare missions, called Transporter missions, during the next two years.

Vega lofts three French military intelligence satellites

Rocket: Vega; Payload: CERES (CapacitÉ de Renseignement Électromagnétique Spatiale) 1, 2 and 3; Date: 16 November 2021, 0927 UTC; Launch site: Kourou, French Guiana. The three military intelligence satellites were deployed into 672 km x 75.00 degrees circular orbits about 56 minutes into the mission.
