OneWeb confirmed its successful launch of 34 satellites by Arianespace from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. This latest successful launch brings OneWeb’s total in-orbit constellation to 322 satellites, nearly half of OneWeb’s entire 648 LEO satellite fleet.

Rocket: Soyuz-2.1b/Fregat; Payload: 34 OneWeb satellites; Date: 14 September 2021, 1807 UTC; Launch site: Baikonur, Kazakhstan. The rocket lifted off as planned, and the satellites were to be deployed into a near-polar orbit at an altitude of 450 kilometers.

As reported, NASA selected SpaceX to provide launch services for the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite-U (GOES-U) mission. The award came after United Launch Alliance dropped out of the competition.

The next Arianespace mission is planned from Baikonur Cosmodrome with Soyuz on 14 September at 0607 UTC to deliver 34 satellites into orbit, bringing the total OneWeb’s fleet to 322 satellites in Low Earth Orbit.

NASA has selected SpaceX to provide launch services for the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite-U (GOES-U) mission. GOES-U will provide advanced imagery and atmospheric measurements of Earth’s weather, oceans, and environment, as well as real-time mapping of total lightning activity and improved monitoring of solar activity and space weather.
