Isar Aerospace to launch OroraTech’s wildfire detection satellites

Isar Aerospace announced that it has entered into a firm launch service agreement with the NewSpace startup OroraTech to launch the company’s satellites into space. OroraTech’s nanosatellites are geared towards tackling the global wildfire and climate crises with satellite-based wildfire detection and monitoring services.

Rocket Lab awarded multi-launch deal by Kinéis

Rocket Lab USA, Inc announced it has been awarded a contract to deploy an entire satellite constellation across five dedicated Electron missions for Kinéis, a global Internet-of-Things (IoT) connectivity provider.

D-Orbit UK signs contract with ESA for debris removal technology

The UK branch of D-Orbit signed a €2.2 million contract with the European Space Agency (ESA) for phase 1 of the development and in-orbit demonstration of a “Deorbit Kit” as part of ESA’s Space Safety Programme (S2P).

18 December set as Ariane 5 launch date for JWST

Arianespace has, jointly with NASA and ESA, defined 18 December 2021 as the targeted launch date for Flight VA256. This third Ariane 5 launch of the year 2021 will orbit NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope from Europe’s Spaceport in French Guiana. This will be the third Ariane 5 launch of the year, following VA254, which was successful on 30 July 2021, and VA255, which is scheduled for 22 October 2021.

Yahsat selects SpaceX to launch Thuraya 4-NGS

Al Yah Satellite Communications Company PJSC announced that it has selected SpaceX’s Falcon 9 to launch Thuraya 4-NGS, the Group’s advanced satellite, which employs the latest satellite communications technologies, to expand Thuraya’s coverage across Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia and Africa.

China launches new HD Earth observation satellite

Rocket: Chang Zheng 4C; Payload: Gaofen-5 02; Date: 7 September 2021, 0301 UTC; Launch site: Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center, China. The satellite was deployed into a Sun-synchronous 680 km x 692 km x 98.28 degrees orbit.

Next OneWeb launch expected in mid-October

The next launch of a Soyuz-2 rocket with OneWeb communications satellites from the Vostochny spaceport is scheduled for mid-October, Russia’s State Space Corporation Roskosmos Chief Dmitry Rogozin said.
