Porsche Automobil Holding SE, Stuttgart, acquires a low single-digit percentage stake in Isar Aerospace Technologies GmbH, Ottobrunn. The company develops and manufactures launch vehicles for the transport of satellites. The investment was part of a new financing round of Isar Aerospace.

Inmarsat has unveiled plans for ORCHESTRA, a communications network that is to bring together existing geosynchronous (GEO) satellites with low Earth orbit satellites (LEO) and terrestrial 5G into an integrated, high-performance solution.

Ball Aerospace successfully completed the preliminary design review (PDR) for the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA’s) Space Weather Follow On-Lagrange 1 (SWFO-L1) spacecraft. With PDR complete, the spacecraft now moves into the critical design phase.

Airbus has finished the integration of the Copernicus Sentinel-2C satellite. It is the third of its kind and will now be shipped to Munich to undergo extensive environmental tests to prove its readiness for space. The test campaign will last until March 2022.

Russia’s Nauka (“Science”) multi-purpose laboratory module docked to the nadir port of the Zvezda service module of the International Space Station (ISS). Just hours later, Nauka’s thrusters began firing unexpectedly, causing the outpost to lose attitude control. The situation has meanwhile been brought under control.
