Russian tech firm develops new radar for safe launch of satellites

The Scientific Research Institute for Long-Distance Radio Communications (NIIDAR, part of the RTI Systems Group) has developed a radar system of space measurements to ensure the safe launch and operation of satellites in orbit.

OneWeb expands satellite constellation through Soyuz launch

August 23rd, 2021 by

Rocket: Soyuz-2.1b; Payload: 34 OneWeb satellites; Date: 22 August 2021, 0013 UTC; Launch site: Baikonur, Kazakhstan. The mission lasted three hours and 45 minutes. The 34 satellites have been separated, during nine separation sequences, at an altitude of 450 km.

China launches radar satellite duo

Rocket: Chang Zheng 4B; Payload: two Tianhui 2-02 satellites; Date: 18 August 2021, 2232 UTC; Launch site: Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center, China. The radar mapping satellites were deployed into approx. 500 km x 520 km x 97.45 degrees Sun-synchronous orbit.

Rocket Lab to Launch Four PocketQube Satellites for Alba Orbital

Rocket Lab, a leading launch provider and space systems company, announced it has signed a rideshare agreement with Scottish-American PocketQube satellite manufacturer, Alba Orbital, to launch a cluster of small satellites designed to demonstrate radio and night-time Earth observation technologies.

Ariane 5 upper stage for Webb heads for Europe’s Spaceport

Zenit rocket debris hits Chinese satellite

China’s Yunhai 1-02 satellite was damaged on 18 March 2021, apparently by a piece of a fragmented Zenit-2 rocket that launched a Tselina-2 electronic spy satellite in September 1996.
